We are big fans of fresh figs. We discovered the joys of such things
back at our old house which was graced with a magnificent fig tree. It
took up a huge corner of the garden, produced two enormous crops of
figs each summer, more than we could consume and preserve (burnt fig
jam ...yummmm), and supported flocks of small native silver eye birds.
Anyway, we've tried a few times now to grow a fig tree here in our "newish" (now 7 years here) house, all to no avail. This is our third attempt. But look...bud of joy...
It isn't really a tree yet, more like a shrub but we still love you fig and you are most welcome in our garden.
